New season. Fresh energy. Small changes.
There’s something about spring that makes us want to open the windows, let the fresh air in, spend more time outdoors, and shake off those winter habits.
After months of cooler mornings, cosy evenings, and perhaps a little less movement, September is the perfect time to refresh your routine—not reinvent your life.
Forget the pressure of a long list of resolutions. Your spring reset can be much simpler: make a few small changes that help you feel lighter, healthier, more energised, and, most importantly, good about the season ahead.
So, where do you start?
Here are 7 simple Spring Resets to try this September.
1. Reset Your Morning
How you start your morning can influence the rhythm of your entire day. Instead of reaching for your phone the moment your alarm goes off, give yourself a few minutes to wake up properly.
Open the curtains. Step outside. Feel the morning air. Get some natural light. Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and actually enjoy it.
You don't need a complicated five-step morning routine. Choose one small ritual that makes you feel good.
Try:
Taking a 10-minute morning walk
Enjoying your breakfast outside
Stretching while your kettle boils
Listening to your favourite playlist
Drinking a glass of water before your morning coffee
Keeping your phone away for the first 15–30 minutes of your day
Your Spring Reset: Choose one morning habit and try it for the next seven days.
Remember: A good morning doesn't need to be productive. Sometimes, simply starting your day calmly is enough.
2. Refresh Your Plate
Spring is the perfect excuse to bring a little more colour to your meals.
Think fresh, colourful, and delicious rather than restrictive. Healthy eating doesn't have to mean giving up the foods you love—it can simply mean adding more goodness to your plate.
Challenge yourself to try one new fruit or vegetable each week. Build a colourful salad, make a fresh wrap, experiment with a grain bowl, or swap a heavier winter meal for something lighter.
And don't forget breakfast! A colourful smoothie bowl, yoghurt topped with fresh fruit, overnight oats, or eggs with seasonal vegetables can give your morning a delicious refresh.
Try the "Eat the Rainbow" Challenge
How many different colours can you get onto your plate today?
Red tomatoes
Green spinach
Orange peppers
Purple cabbage
Yellow peppers
Blueberries
The more colour, the more fun!
Spring Tip: Don't focus on what you need to remove from your diet. Start by thinking about what you can add.
3. Take Your Workout Outdoors
Who says exercise has to happen inside?
As the days become brighter, take advantage of the opportunity to move outdoors. You might be surprised by how different your usual workout feels when you swap four walls for sunshine and fresh air.
Go for a walk somewhere beautiful. Take your stretching routine to the garden. Try a bodyweight workout in the park. Go for a cycle, hike, or weekend adventure.
And if you're not a "workout person", that's okay too. Movement is movement. A brisk walk with a friend, a game with the kids, a hike on the weekend, or a cycle around your neighbourhood all count.
Your Spring Move
Choose one activity you've never tried before and put it on your calendar this month. It could be hiking, cycling, kayaking, dancing outdoors, or simply exploring a new walking route. Make movement an adventure rather than a chore.
4. Do a Habit Audit
Sometimes the best way to move forward is to pause and ask yourself what's actually working.
We all collect habits over time. Some energise us. Others quietly drain us. And some? We're doing simply because we've always done them.
This spring, take a few minutes to check in with yourself.
Ask Yourself:
What's one habit that gives me energy?
What's one habit that leaves me feeling drained?
What am I doing simply because it's become routine?
What's one thing I could stop, start, or simplify?
You don't need to overhaul everything. Perhaps you realise that scrolling late at night is affecting your sleep. Maybe you want to prepare lunches the night before. Or perhaps you discover that your daily walk is one of the best parts of your day—and you'd like to do more of it.
The Spring Rule: Don't change everything. Change one thing that matters.
5. Spring-Clean Your Environment
Spring cleaning doesn't have to mean spending an entire weekend cleaning your house from top to bottom.
Pick one small space and give it a refresh: your fridge, desk, pantry, handbag, bedroom, or that one kitchen cupboard you've been avoiding for approximately three years… 👀
A little organisation can make healthy habits easier. Keep fruit where you can see it. Put your walking shoes somewhere accessible. Organise your meal-prep ingredients. Clear your desk so it's easier to focus.
Your environment can either make healthy choices feel effortless—or make them feel like hard work.
Try the 15-Minute Reset
Set a timer for 15 minutes.
Choose one small area.
Clear it, clean it, and organise it.
Stop.
That's it. You don't need to clean the whole house to feel the difference.
6. Create More "Outside Time"
Here's a little spring challenge: don't only go outside when you're exercising.
Make being outdoors part of your everyday life. Have your morning coffee in the garden. Eat your lunch outside. Take a sunset stroll. Read a book on a bench. Plant something. Have a picnic. Explore a part of your neighbourhood you've never visited.
Even a few extra minutes outside can make your day feel different.
Your Spring Outside-Time List
☐ Have breakfast outside
☐ Take a sunset walk
☐ Have an outdoor lunch
☐ Go on a picnic
☐ Try a new walking route
☐ Spend time gardening
☐ Read outside
☐ Watch the sunrise or sunset
☐ Explore somewhere new
The goal isn't to check them all off. It's simply to spend a little more time where the sky is your ceiling.
7. Give Yourself Something to Look Forward To
This might be the most important Spring Reset of all.
Wellness isn't just about what we eat, how much we exercise, or how productive we are. It's also about enjoyment.
Give yourself something to look forward to this spring. Plan a picnic with friends. Try a new recipe. Organise an outdoor lunch. Visit somewhere you've never been. Start a hobby. Book that weekend adventure. Have a braai with family. Try a new class.
Put something fun on your calendar and give yourself permission to enjoy it. Because sometimes, taking care of yourself looks less like ticking off a wellness checklist and more like laughing with people you love while eating something delicious in the sunshine.
Your September Spring Reset Challenge
Now it's your turn. For the next 30 days, choose one small reset from each of these four areas:
Reset Your Routine: Choose one morning or evening habit that makes your day better.
Reset Your Plate: Add more colour and variety to your meals.
Reset Your Movement: Move outdoors at least a few times each week.
Reset Your Space & Mind: Spend 15 minutes a day clearing, organising, reflecting, or simply slowing down.
Remember: You don't have to be perfect for 30 days.
Missed a day? Start again tomorrow.
Had an unhealthy meal? Enjoy it and move on.
Didn't exercise? Take a walk when you can.
The purpose of a reset isn't to create another set of rules. It's to help you reconnect with the habits and activities that make you feel your best.
Ready to Reset?
Spring doesn't have to mean becoming a brand-new version of yourself.
It can simply mean making a little more room for the things that energise you. More fresh food. More movement. More sunshine. More time outside. More moments that make you smile.
So open those windows, lace up your shoes, add some colour to your plate, and choose one small thing to reset today.
New season. Fresh energy. Small changes.
Here's to your Spring Reset!
Coach Jean’s Spring Note
"Resetting isn’t about pushing harder or changing who you are overnight, it’s about giving yourself room to bloom. True strength comes from knowing when to shed what no longer serves you and making space for energy, light, and joy. Choose one small habit today, step into the sunshine, and let this season remind you of your own potential."
